Sound insulation comparison
• Vacuum glass:
The average sound insulation is about 35-42dB, and it has an outstanding effect on high-frequency noise (such as traffic noise and human voice), which can reduce noise by 30-40 decibels (equivalent to reducing 70 decibels of noise to 30-40 decibels).
• Insulated glass:
The sound insulation of ordinary air layer (12mm) is about 28-32dB, which can be increased to 30-35dB after filling with inert gas. The blocking effect on low-frequency noise (such as engine roar) is relatively poor.
Summary and suggestions
• If you pursue extreme sound insulation (such as houses near high-speed railways and main roads), vacuum glass is preferred, but it should be noted that its cost is relatively high;
• If it is for daily sound insulation (such as ordinary residences and offices), insulating glass (especially thick air layer + inert gas filling) can meet the needs and is more cost-effective.
